Hit & run victim remains in serious condition

A 19-year-old male remains in a serious condition in Dunedin Hospital after being hit by a vehicle on an Otatara road.

The hit and run victim was struck around 6:15am on Sunday morning (25 September) on Marama Avenue South in Otatara.

Invercargill Police are continuing to investigate the serious incident and will be releasing CCTV footage of a vehicle they hope to identify, Detective Sergeant Scott MacKenzie said.

We believe the vehicle was a dark coloured Toyota Hilux or similar, he said.

The vehicle was captured on CCTV around the time of the incident and we would like to speak with the driver to see if they can help us establish what has happened, McKenzie said.

"We are also appealing to members of the public who know anything about what has happened or who was involved to come forward."

"We are keeping an open mind as to what has occurred but want answers for the man’s family."

Police are also reminding the public that when considering if you can help with information, on Sunday morning, that clocks went forward at 2am daylight saving.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police on 105 quoting file number 220925/5483.
