A series of state highway closures are being scheduled to support the upcoming Tour of Southland cycling event.
Road users should plan around the following closures that align with the different stages of the event, which is being held from 18 to 24 January following an earlier postponement:
- 21 January, 11.45am to 12.30pm: Closure of State Highway 6/Kingston Road to southbound traffic from Wye Creek (north of Devil’s Staircase); no detour is available and all traffic will be held.
- 22 January, 12pm to 3.30pm: Full closure of State Highway 6/Diana Street in Lumsden; detour available via Hero Street and Flora Road/SH94.
- 24 January, 8.30am to 12.30pm: Full closure of State Highway 6/Great North Road in Winton, between Bute Street and Winton-Hedgehope Highway/SH96; detour available via Bute, Park and Albert Streets (and for heavy vehicles via Gap Road West, Winton Substation Road and Winton-Wreys Bush Highway/SH96).
We thank people in advance for their patience as this event is accommodated.
