A heavy rain warning and Level Orange, has been issued this morning for Fiordland by the Met Service and Emergency Management Southland.

The warning is valid from 6pm Tuesday till 1pm Wednesday.

Between 100 - 120mm of rain is expected with peak rates between 15-25mm per hour on Wednesday morning.

The heavy rain may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly with surface flooding and slips also possible, making driving conditions hazardous.
