Emergency Management Southland has issued a heavy rain warning for Fiordland from 1am Friday till 1am Saturday.

They advise that between 150 - 200mm could fall, with peaks between 15 - 20 mm/h. This may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly with surface flooding and slips also possible.

Driving conditions may become hazardous.
