Gore singer-songwriter Jenny Mitchell is a finalist for the 2019 Recorded Music NZ Best Country Music Artist at this year's New Zealand Country Music Awards.


The awards, held each year in Gore and run by the New Zealand Songwriters Trust, are New Zealand’s pre-eminent celebration of Country Music Artists in New Zealand .


Miss Mitchell is a finalist for her album Wildfires. She released her sophomore album at the end of 2018. Not only is she nominated for the 2019 Recorded Music Best Country Music Artist Tui, but the 19-year-old Gore local is preparing for a New Zealand tour this year.


Miss Mitchell joins fellow finalists Jamie McDell and Tami Neilson for the award, and is also a finalist for the MLT Songwriting Awards for her songs "Lucy" and "Tug of War".


The award will be announced Thursday, May 30.
