A top art exhibition of contemporary art is returning to Gore next Saturday (27 Nov), however no adults are allowed.

The annual Muka Youth Print Exhibition featuring original stone lithographs by top NZ and international artists is exclusively for young people aged 5 - 18 years.

The works reflect the normal concerns of the artists, with no patronising or ‘talking down’ to children.

East Gore Art Centre's programme officer Marcella Geddes said the exhibition was always very popular with over 100 children attending last year.

She said a lot of the same children came back year after year.

All pieces are for sale at one special youth rate and artist’s signatures are covered up to encourage children to choose work based on their individual taste and appreciation of the work rather than the artist’s reputation.

The exhibition will be held at the East Gore Art Centre on Saturday 27th November between 12 - 6pm. Entry is free.
