Gore is set to get an exciting dose of Lego related fun next weekend with the 2019 Gore Brick Event.
Hosted by Lego Users Group (LUG) South, the bi-annual event showcases a variety of Lego collectors and demonstrations as well as giving participants the chance to have some fun with the popular building bricks.
This year the event will be held at the Gore Town and Country Club for the first time after the usual venue of James Cumming Wing Hall became unavailable due to the relocation of the Gore Library.
It is also being held slightly later than usual due to the Country Club being unavailable during the usual July school holiday period.
LUG South secretary Gavin Evans said the event was a great family day out for fans of Lego.
He said there would be plenty of opportunities for people of all ages to learn and purchase Lego as well as see some amazing displays of some incredible Lego designs, including a Saturn V replica rocket which was coming from Auckland especially for the event.
It was the first time the rocket had been shown in Southland.
Mr Evans said the appeal of Lego was widespread as it was usable by anyone of any age.
"Lego has universal appeal and you can use it with any hobby. If you're into cars you can build Lego cars. If you're into animals you can build Lego animals... it's really awesome."
The event takes place next weekend on August 17 and 18. Doors open both days at 10am and close at 5pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday. Entry is $2.
