GARDENING: Diacks Nurseries September 25th Sept

WHATS HAPPENING

All seasons in one day!!

Spring can be a bit unpredictable.

Gardeners just have to be adaptable and take a few chances.

Not even the weather man always gets it correct especially down here in the south.

Tomato plants are selling well.

Plenty of varieties and prices to suit everyone.

Come on in for a look.

Vege plants are growing daily since the weather has warmed up.

We have a huge range to choose from.

Get the garden planted up for xmas lunch.

Herbs are also ready and a great range at $4.99 each.

Potato sales have slowed down although the main crops still need planted yet.

Most early varieties are germinating.. Keep them covered from those sneaky frosts.

Same goes for the early Pumpkins and Courgettes.

We sell frost cloth and fibreglass hoops if you need some protection from the frosts.

Flower plants are looking good also.

A good range of Lobelia for borders and hanging baskets, Livingston daisies for the sunny spots, and Pansies for the shady spots.

We have Poly's out for $1.00 if anyone is after a wee bargain.

Lilly bulbs have almost finished and the Begonia and Dahlia bulbs have just arrived.

We do not have many this year so be in soon for those.

Magnolias are in full flower and look absolutely beautiful. Camellias and Rhodo's are just starting to open up and the maples are breaking into leaf.

Everything is coming to life!!!

Good colour for pots about at the moment are the Geraniums & Daisies both firm favourites of many gardeners.

Boronias are another popular choice and they have an awesome perfume.

Put 1 in a pot by your door for that beautiful smell...

Fruit trees are still selling well.

There is a good supply of most varieties.

Berry fruit is also proving to be in high demand especially the raspberries and blueberries.

Plenty of strawberries also and these are $2.99 each or 6 for $15.00.

Fresh lemons (organic) on our shelves... $6.99 per kg or we have plenty of trees in stock to grow your own.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING

Weeds are growing well.

If you see chickweed then you know the time is right to start planting your small seeds (carrots, parsnips, radishes)

These can all go in now but cover them to keep the cats & birds off.

Keep vigilant on the pests and diseases.

Slugs and snails are the 1st to attack young seedlings.

Don't forget to bring in your own bags or boxes.

Or purchase one of our baskets for $5.00.

Renew & recycle.

Yours to keep for future purchases.

 FACT

The first oranges weren’t orange

The original oranges from Southeast Asia were a tangerine-pomelo hybrid, and they were actually green. In fact, oranges in warmer regions like Vietnam and Thailand still stay green through maturity.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK
