GARDENING: Diacks Nurseries 16th October

WHATS HAPPENING

A frost this week!!

I hope everyone had all their delicate plants covered up..... The days have not been to bad tho just cooling down at night.

But I still think the tunnel house could be the place to be.

Tomato plants are looking good and we have a great supply of all varieties.

I have heard out the back tho they have done their last tomato sowing for the year but there are still plenty in stock for the forseeable future.

The Vining tomato has been selling exceptionally well.

Everyone wants to get behind a good cause.

Cucumbers, Courgettes & Pumpkins all ready now as well.

Get your favourite while there is plenty of stock and the weather has warmed up slightly.

A huge selection of vege plants ready for your garden.

And the same goes for the flowers.

6 packs are $3.99 or buy 4 for $15.00.

Roses are all in leaf and are looking really good and strong.

Still a good selection of colours & varieties.

Rhododenrons are starting to flower with the favourite perfumed ones John Bull & Princess Alice about to open.

We actually have a special on certain Rhodies.

We had a container of surplus plants land the other day and have put them out for sale at $25.00 each.

Come on in and see if anything catches your eye.

Some new camellias are in.

Fairy Blush is perfect for screening.

Flowering cherries & magnolias are in flower or bud as well.

The double flower varieties are a bit later.

Fruit trees are also all in flower.

Peaches, plums, & nectarines anyway.

Apples and pears are a bit later.

Plenty of strawberry plants and a new crop of berry fruit has arrived.

Raspberry Ebony could be worth a shot for anyone wanting some berry fruit to plant.

(Small firm rosette of dark black berries. Easily removed when ripe. Cascading purple/black canes with no spines)

Sounds perfect.

Seed potatoes are still selling.

Main crops need to be planted this month.

Southlanders love their red spuds.

Desiree, Red Rascal & Van Rosa are all very popular but the most popular Red King has sold out I am sorry.

Small seeds are able to go in now.

That's your carrots, radish,& white stone turnips.

Plenty of peastraw at both shops for anyone needing it.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING

October is the month for all gardening projects.

Hopefully the weather behaves from now on and we can get our gardens planted and thriving.

Don't forget to bring in your own bags or boxes. Or purchase one of our baskets for $5.00.. Renew & recycle. Yours to keep for future purchases.

WHATS NEW THIS WEEK

Slasher Weedkiller is a Registered Organic herbicide that is glyphosate-free and rapidly kills weeds, moss, algae and lichen.

Use it in gardens, paths, drive-ways, around buildings and as a spot spray in lawns.

It works quickly to easily control weeds the organic way!

Slasher Weedkiller is a non-selective contact weedkiller.

Thorough coverage is needed when spraying because any parts you miss won’t be killed.

Take care when spraying around your favourite plants as any spray drift will also damage them.

Do not apply to wet weeds or if rain is imminent as the extra moisture will dilute the spray and weaken its impact.
