GARDENING: Diacks Newsletter 4th December

WHATS HAPPENING

We have had some strong winds and plenty of rain.

The poor gardens are having a rough time.

Soft growth on trees and shrubs has been burnt and some trees and branches have even been snapped off.

A strong stake is good insurance on a windy day.

We still have a few tomatoes left, some in a PB 40 bag ready to go.

These can be grown in the bag all season.

We also have some hanging basket tomatoes.

These produce cherry tomatoes and need NO work apart from some water and a bit of fertilizer.

Pumpkins & Courgettes need to go in if you want a crop before the frosts.

Courgettes are always easy to grow once established.

Another crop of veges should be being planted now especially the lettuces.

We have dug our 1st lot of leeks from Grannys leek patch!!!

Bunches of 25 for $3.99.

Roses are looking great.

Full of bud & flower.

These make great gifts especially the namesakes like My Dad, My Mum, My Best Mate, My Sister.

I am sure everyone has one of the above.

Fruit trees are another great gift idea or even a berry fruit plant if wanting something smaller.

We have some good thornless blackberries & raspberries.

There is a dwarf raspberry called Mini Me that is a really good heavy cropper.

Strawberry plants are also selling well.

Hydrangeas are starting to flower.

These are good for the southside of the house.

Strawberries & cream OR blueberries & cream are proving to be very popular.

Plenty of begonias available.

We have pink, white & red in the bedding varieties and in the non stop mix tuberous variety is really great for pots.

There is a good batch of Lavenders out for sale now.

Pacific blue, Grosso & Dilly Dilly are great for hedging and all are about to flower.

Flower plants are looking good especially the petunias, marigolds & geraniums.

Get these planted out for a bit of xmas colour

PET

Seachem Stability

Stability rapidly and safely establishs the aquarium biofilter in freshwater and marine systems, thereby preventing the #1 cause of fish death: "new tank syndrome".

Stability is formulated specifically for the aquarium and contains a synergistic blend of aerobic, anaerobic, and facultative bacteria which facilitate the breakdown of waste organics, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.

The bacteria employed by Stability are non-sulfur fixing and will not produce toxic hydrogen sulfide.

Stability is completely harmless to all aquatic organisms as well as aquatic plants, thus there is no danger of over use.

 Seachem Prime

Nearly all pet aquatics companies manufacture a product that removes chlorine.

None of those, however, can compare in quality, concentration, or effectiveness to Seachem’s flagship product: Prime.

Prime is the complete and concentrated conditioner for both fresh and saltwater.

Prime removes chlorine, chloramine and detoxifies ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.

It is non-acidic and will not impact pH.

A further bonus for the reef hobbyist—Prime will not over-activate skimmers.
