GARDENING: Diacks Newsletter 29th March

WHATS HAPPENING

We have had some really good day temperatures so its a great chance to be outside cleaning up for the winter months.

Get it all done and indoors before nighttime as the nights are really cooling down now.

Time to get the weeds out and mulch.

Peastraw is a great weed suppressant over the winter months.

It also helps insulate plants from the frosts.

Another good practice is to throw a few sheep pellets around to feed your shrubs.

Rhododendrons LOVE some acid food and the bulbs would really welcome some bulb fertiliser.

BEST COLOUR today are the Callunas and Ericas that are about to flower.

The last of the summer annuals are out for sale.

There are some Marigolds, Petunias, Lobelia and Alyssum.

Vege plants are still growing so now is the time to get the last of your crops in the ground.

The white butterfly are still a problem and we do not have Derris dust on the shelf any more but plenty of other products available.

Just pop in and see us.

Bulbs are in store now... At the moment only named daffodils, Iris, Crocus, Fresia, Anenomes, Ranunculus and Hyacinth.

We are still waiting on bulk daffodills and tulips.

Also a good supply of lavenders in the shop.

A great new variety called Blue Spear.

Come in and check it out.

Plenty of pittosporums in as well starting with the popular miniatures like Golfball and Sumo right thru to the taller growing Stephens Islands and Wrinkled Blue.

Some autumn colours appearing already with the Acer's and Maples starting to show red.

Now is the time to trim your hedges.

It gives them time to produce some new growth before the winter.

Some fertiliser is always a benefit at the time of trimming...

NEW IN STORE!!!

We have had some new pots come in over the last week... Its a wee bit like Xmas unpacking new product.

We also unpacked a new product called Ocean Fert.

It is a pelletised product of organic seaweed derived from fresh Ascophyllum Nodosum.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING
