The weather has been very warm the last week or so.
I thought we were going to get a summer..
It rained over night with a bit of a temperature drop but the conditions are great for the growth.... weeds lawns & plants are all loving it.
It is great to be able to get out into the gardens and give everything a good tidy up before xmas.
Give everything a fertilise and water in well.
Strawberries, raspberries, currents & gooseberries are all ripening every day so it would pay to put some bird netting over them before the birds eat them..
The 1st of the cherries will be ripening as well.
I LOVE the berry season.
Indoor plants have been selling well and we have a really good supply for the huge demand at the moment.
If you want something a little funky we have some cool pot plants we have grown onsite.
Monstera Deliciosa
Coleus chocolate cherry, pots o beauty, kong lime sprite
Hypoestes (Polka Dot plant) in pink, red, rose & white
Peperomia Caperata
Most of the above plants are at Lorneville.
These are well worth a visit to our store to check them out.
REALLY GREAT GIFTS FOR ANY AGE GROUP.
Poinsetta & Lilies are a favourite at this time of the year as well.
Plenty in stock at both shops.
There are some potted xmas trees for sale.
Small but cute, these can be kept in their pots for years to come.
We have a good xmas display at both shops with plenty of stocking fillers.
Vege gardens are starting to be harvested.
The 1st potatoes have been dug and new seed replanted.
The same goes for lettuce, & brassicas.
Peas & beans are coming ready now so you will have to be vigilant and harvest when ready.
Vege gardens are starting to change to autumn maturity plants like brussel sprouts & leeks.
We grow our own leeks in Grannys garden.
Good strong plants of 25 per bundle @ $3.99.
The 1st tomatoes have been picked and eaten and the courgettes are out of control already.
There are still a few tomato, cucumber, capsicums & pumpkin plants for the glasshouses.
Plenty of colour around with Begonias, Marigolds, Pansies, & Petunias ready for planting in the garden or in pots..
The roses are looking pretty awesome either in bud or in flower as are the Rhododendrons....Purple Splendour being one of the most spectacular.
WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING
Weeding and watering.
Lawns are in need of attention.
Do some weed control & fertilising.
Be vigilant with the bugs.
White butterflies are laying their eggs and caterpillars will infest your brassicas.
Glasshouse bugs are mainly the white fly & aphids.
There are also always slugs and snails.
The gift shop at Tweed Street is full and if all else fails and you cannot think what to get that special person how about a voucher and then they can select their own.
Don't forget to bring in your own bags or boxes. Or purchase one of our baskets for $5.00.. Renew & recycle. Yours to keep for future purchases.
