The late Fred Inder’s 20 year contribution to operating the Mararoa Weir fish pass has been recognised.

Mr Inder was employed to manage the pass following its commissioning in 1998.
He initially assisted Fish and Game with trapping the trout and salmon using the pass, before being employed by Weir controllers Meridian Energy.

Meridian Energy hosted the Inder family and former work colleagues on Tuesday (20th July) to show them the site and explain the intricacies of the fish pass workings.
A plaque positioned on the structure was unveiled by Mr Inder's widow Alva.
