Emergency Management Southland has activated it's flood warning system.

Environment Southland advise that heavy rain is currently affecting the Aparima, Waikaia, Mataura and Oreti rivers. 

As at 6pm tonight (18 July) the Aparima River at Dunrobin was 1.54 metres above normal and rising at 63 mm/hour.

The Hamilton Burn at Waterloo Road was 1.16 metres above normal and rising 202 mm/hour.
