A fire broke out at the Invercargill ACC building on Spey Street this afternoon, three fire crews attended the scene and there were no reported injuries.
Fire and Emergency Assistant Area Commander for Southland Dean Chalmers was at the scene and said the building was "smoke-logged" and the fire appears to have started in the ventilation system in the roof.
Spey Street was cordoned off by police and fire crews this afternoon from Dee Street to Kelvin Street until just after 4 o'clock.
Mr Chalmers said all the people in the building had been successfully evacuated and had followed the correct fire and safety protocols.
The fire has been extinguished.
Fire crews are now in the process of clearing the building of smoke and investigating to find out the cause of the fire.
