Film Otago Southland (FOS) is seeking to recruit a chair and two additional trustees to its board to replace retiring trustees.
The not-for-profit trust supports screen production in the region, in collaboration with the Queenstown Lakes and Dunedin Regional Film Offices.
Its aim is to stimulate regional economic growth by helping to attract and facilitate screen productions; develop the sector for regional business; maximise opportunities for regional film professionals; and assist with policy development.
It brings together representatives, and funding, from Queenstown Lakes District Council, Dunedin City Council, Great South, Southern Institute of Technology (SIT), Central Otago District Council and Waitaki District Council.
Both the chair and trustees are volunteer positions.
Applicants for the chairperson position will ideally have prior experience as a chair, trustee or director, however, the board has experienced governance at the table and is prepared to provide training with the IoD and mentorship for an aspiring chair with a local connection to the industry.
The board is looking for trustees with a knowledge of the film industry and experience in strategic thinking and organisational growth.
Governance experience is desirable but the board will support aspiring trustees who have a commitment to the governing process of Film Otago Southland and the goal to promote film and screen industry benefits within the Otago and Southland region.
Successful candidates will be required to attend four formal quarterly board meetings (2hrs) and four operations meetings (1hrs) per year.
"The board is supportive of the option of video conferencing with a goal of at least 2 in-person meetings. Trustees should also be available for ad-hoc consultation and appointments in between meetings and may be invited to represent Film Otago Southland at industry events as applicable."
Anyone with questions or who is interested in applying should email a CV and Cover Letter through to current chair Brad Hurndell [email protected].
Applications close, 20 September, 2022.
