One person has tragically died following a crash on the Niagara-Tokanui Highway at Quarry Hills, Southland, last night.

Emergency services were alerted at approximately 8:35pm to a ute that had rolled between McManus Road and Quarry Hills Fortification Road.

Sadly, one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants sustained critical and serious injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the accident.
