Southland and Gore mayors will hit the road today, towing caravans with health staff, to bring vaccinations to small communities.


The aim is to make it easier for people in rural areas to get vaccinated.


Southland District Mayor Gary Tong will be visit western and northern Southland, while Gore District Mayor Tracy Hicks covers eastern and southern Southland.

The two mayors and staff from Southern Health will spend the week throughout Southland and then return at the end of the month for people to get their second vaccination.


Walk-ins are encouraged and the vaccine is free of charge.
