Exciting opportunity for an outgoing character with a passion for people and the outdoors to join a tightknit team onboard our overnight vessel the Fiordland Navigator, showcasing the everchanging environment of Doubtful Sound to our guests.
About the Role
How often do you get the chance to showcase the beautiful native fauna and flora of Fiordland, introducing and educating our visitors on the wildlife that inhabit Doubtful Sound and ensuring they have an experience not only will they want to return to, but share with their family and friends.
This is a permanent position working 4 days on, 3 days off over winter and 7 days on, 7 days off over summer which provides you with a unique opportunity to work and play hard in this beautiful part of the world.
You’ll be based on board the vessel for your days on; with your own accommodation and all meals provided.
You’ll be working and living with the rest of the crew including a Launch Master, Team Leader, Chef and Nature Guide.
As part of this role you will:
· Assisting passengers and providing high levels of customer service, with manaakitanga central to all you deliver
· Preparing and serving meals and drinks
· Maintaining cleanliness of the vessel, including servicing and cleaning rooms
· Loading and unloading of supplies
· Assisting with outdoor activities, such as kayaking
Skills & Experience
· Someone who can anticipate guests’ needs and consistently provide top service;
· Strong communication skills able to connect with guests from all demographics;
· Most importantly - a lively team player who enjoys doing what's required to ensure a remarkable customer experience;
· Previous hospitality experience preferable;
· Previous maritime experience would be advantageous.
