1800 Invercargill residents were without power last night after an equipment failure at Stadium Southland caused a power outage.

According to a statement from PowerNet, the outage occurred at approximately 7.30pm.

Power supply was lost for 35 minutes, and nine customers are still without power in the Richmond/Glengarry suburbs.

PowerNet teams are still working on site at Stadium Southland to fix the failure and reconnect the nine customers as well as determining the full cause of the outage.
