Eat local will be the theme at this year's Spring Eco Kai Fest, to be held at the Invercargill Workingmen's Club next Saturday (28 Sep).


Organised by Southland Forest & Bird, the popular family friendly event of displays and workshops will this year feature a Murihuku Good Food Map, produced by the Murihuku Kai Collectve.


Flax weaving raranga Harakeke, community gardens and dealing with pests such as possoms and rats will also be discussed.



Other exhibitors include Forest & Bird - including the Kiwi Conservation Club, South Alive, School students with their winning projects from the recent Science & Technology Fair, Kiwi Harvest, Coal Action Murihiku, Invercargill’s Vegan Society, Invercargill City Council Enviro team and the Otatara based Eco Church.


Organisers have also invited political parties to share their environmental policies.


Workshops through the day include Sustainable Food Systems, remedial massage therapy and education at midday, along with the Importance of Dark Skies at 1pm.

The Spring Eco Kai Fest is open 10am - 2.30pm at the Invercargill Workingmen's Club, 154 Esk St, Invercargill

Adults $2, Students (a gold coin), Under 5's (free)
