No need to readjust your vision: two vintage DC-3 aircraft were simultaneously parked on the Te Anau-Manapouri airport tarmac earlier this week.

The aircraft on the right is owned and operated by a group of New Zealanders who regularly work with travel company Pacific Trailways to run nationwide tours on the vintage airliner, which includes a stop in Fiordland.

Meanwhile, Te Anau Lodge owner Mark Oremland's "Jean Batten Clipper", seen on the left, made a visit from Blenheim.

The Jean Batten Clipper flew in from England in November 2012, following the path of New Zealand pilot Jean Batten's historic 1936 solo flight from England to Aotearoa.

Mr Oremland has been working over the last six years to be able to run the Jean Batten commercially, with the dream of offering scenic flights between Te Anau and Queenstown.

Last spring, the plane got the tick from aviation authories to be flown privately. Mr Oremland said the plane needed more flying hours and Fiordland was a good place for the plane to stretch its legs this week.

The plane would turn 77 next month, and as seven was Mr Oremland's lucky number, he said he was hoping this was his year to get the tick to commercially fly the vintage aircraft.

The aircraft was expected to make a demonstration flight around the area today.
