Life Education Trust Southland is supporting 25 intrepid Taranaki-based cyclists as they pedal and fundraise their way from Marlborough to Milford Sound during March.
The Joes Garage Charity Cycle Riders aim to get to Milford Sound in 11 days, departing from Picton on March 13 and arriving at their destination on March 22.
The 1400km journey down the West Coast, over Arthur's Pass, and through the McKenzie Country, Wanaka and Queenstown, has been organised by Chris Milne.

Life Education Trust Southland trustees and mascot Harold will be in Te Anau to greet and thank the team as it passes through on day 10.
“We are so very fortunate that Chris and his team of riders have chosen to support Life Education Trust. It is an amazing journey that they are taking on and we are proud to be a part of it,” Southland trust chairperson, Jaime McNaught, said this week.
Chris said funds raised for Life Education Trust would support children to face challenges such as obesity, substance use, mental health and well-being and bullying.
“This ride has been such an exciting challenge for our riders, who have all really enjoyed riding through the beautiful South Island landscape. We’re all really passionate about making a difference in our communities so it’s great to be able to support the charity Life Education Trust through this adventure,” Chris said.
The trust’s projects reach 250,000 children in primary and intermediate schools around New Zealand each year, inspiring children and young people to make positive choices.

Joe's Garage Charity Cycle Riders got together in 2012.
Their first charity ride spurred a desire to continue raising awareness and funds for community focused charities. The team has since organised three charity rides throughout the country, raising at least $350,000 for the trust.
The Picton to Milford Sound ride had raised $4580 by February 25.
