A Dunedin Hospital ward has been closed to visitors today.

Ward 8MED was closed after several staff and patients were exposed to COVID-19 and influenza.

The Southern DHB apologised to patients and their families for the inconvenience and distress caused but thanked everyone for supporting the health care team to keep the community safe.

However general visiting to Dunedin Hospital still remains open 2-6pm daily.
