Invercargill Airport has announced a $4m upgrade to its Sir Tim Shadbolt terminal.
Improvements will focus on upgrading the airport's security systems for cabin baggage screening, but also include an expanded jet lounge, smarter passenger flow management and improvements within the existing terminal footprint
CEO Stuart Harris said the project was not a luxury redevelopment but a compliance-driven functional upgrade.
"It’s also an unmistakable indicator of Southland’s momentum."
"We’re affirming confidence in our region’s growth and ensuring Invercargill Airport can continue to connect Southlanders with Aotearoa and the world."
"It’s about readiness, reliability, and reflecting the pride we have in our community,” Harris said
Construction is expected to last six months and will be phased to ensure minimal disruption to customers.
