Community Wellbeing Coordinator Te Anau Part time (10 hours per week), Fixed term (6 months).
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic person with a strong interest and knowledge in community wellbeing services.
In association with the Te Hau Toka Southern Wellbeing Group, we are hiring a Community Wellbeing Coordinator to improve access to information resources specifically on wellbeing services in the Fiordland area.
What will you do?
The coordinator will proactively reach out to vulnerable groups to connect them with relevant information and assist people to know how to look after their own wellbeing and where to get help if needed.
The coordinator will actively contribute towards community collaboration, support innovative responses that help build wellbeing by providing key links and information for groups with specific wellbeing needs (e.g., older people, business owners, Māori, youth, migrant workers, families, & rural communities).
There will also be an element of promoting and supporting community wellbeing communication campaigns and presenting to target groups or events in the region.
This role does require flexibility as while most of the work will be conducted during normal business hours, there is an acknowledgement that occasionally there may be a need to work after hours or weekends.
What skills do you need?
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Understand the role of health promotion and demonstrate initiative
- Able to work well independently or in a wider team
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely when seeking or providing information
- Able to produce clearly written, well-formatted reports and the required data - Familiar and competent with social media platforms
- Demonstrates competency when facilitating and presenting to groups
- Knowledge and an understanding of community wellbeing
- Some experience in organising community events
- Strategic thinker who is able to align role objectives, plan ahead and monitor outcomes
- Knowledge of government and non-government community structures and services
- Understanding and commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and on-going cultural learning
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and conducts self in an honest and transparent manner
- Ability to listen, interpret, clarify and respond appropriately when working with members of the community, colleagues and representatives of other services and businesses
- Commitment to building greater knowledge of wellbeing, its dynamics and effects on individuals, family, business, and the wider community.
You will need
- NZ residency or a valid work visa
- Current NZ driver’s licence
- To clear a New Zealand Police vet check
- To be fully COVID 19 vaccinated
