A lucky child is likely to win a posh playhouse, and local wellbeing and mental health providers receive much needed funds, thanks to a concerted community effort.

The Invercargill North Rotary Club (INRC) initiative turned into a community affair, with several businesses and groups donating goods and their time to the good cause.

Discounted building materials were supplied by the local ITM store to inmates of Invercargill Prison, who set about building the shell of the playhouse.

INRC president David Boniface said there had been a lot of communication with the builders during the construction phase and on every occasion the inmates involved expressed gratitude to us for the opportunity to be involved in such a positive project

However finishing and fitting out the house was left to club members.

Boniface said so much fun has been had in undertaking all of the preparation and finishing both inside and out giving the playhouse a wow factor.

The finished playhouse will have it's first outing at "Halloween in the Park", in Queens Park on Tuesday 31st October, with the licky ticket being drawn just before Christmas.
