Celebrating Southland Schools
08 July 2021, 11:25 PM
Since our last entry, we have had a number of exciting things happen here at Winton School.
Our wonderful School Ambassadors helped set up the ANZAC memorial crosses in the playground.
These looked amazing and were a great way to show respect to our fallen soldiers.
To end last term our Year 5 and 6 students attended their respective camps at Camp Columba near Pukerau and Queenstown Camp.
The children and adults all got to experience a number of fun activities and spend some fun time together.
Next our Year 8 students head to Deep Cove which is always a memorable time.
Over the first half of this term we trained hard for our Cross Country events.
Both Junior and Senior Students set goals to achieve as they continued training.
We were so proud of everyone who gave it their best shot, with a number of students progressing to the Central and Southland events.
This term we have started the Kickstart Breakfast programme, where children are encouraged to grab an extra Weet-Bix each Monday and Wednesday.
It’s been great to see a number of children turn up for an extra boost and to socialise before the school day starts.
To end the term we have recently held our Senior and Junior Disco.
The children really enjoyed letting their hair down and getting dressed up.
As the term draws to a close we are having a hangi to celebrate our learning about ‘I Wonder Down Under.’
Classes have learned so much about what happens beneath the Earth’s surface during the term.
If you wish to keep up to date with what’s been happening please visit our Facebook page where we share a Weekly Video each Friday.
