Celebrating Southland Schools

08 November 2022, 8:08 PM

CLASS ACTION: Wallacetown School

Term 3 week 8 we welcomed Navy to Room 2 and Oskar to Room 4.

Welcome to Room 2 Navy, and Room 4 Oskar!!

At the Start of term 4 week we welcome Henry and Eden to Room 2 – we hope they have a great start to Term 4 at Wallacetown school .

On Saturday 17 September we had our Jingo Fundraiser at the Community Centre.

What a great night!

Lots of fun singing along to the songs and some awesome raffle prizes.

Thank you to our fundraising group for their organisation of the night.

Miniball started on September 20, thanks to Nadine for coaching our team.

Practice is happening on Monday afternoons at 1:30pm.

We have also had the ‘Playler’ at school – Its a a trailer filled with lots of play and sports equipment.

To give you an idea of what it is ... think of every toy in your house being out on your lawn for your kids to play with!

Amazing play happening and some very creative games!

This opportunity is part of the work we’ve been doing with Active Southland and the Healthy Active Learning initiative.

Thank you to the Senior Citizens for the money to get some books for our library!

Pippa and Myla are ready for the Summer!!

It’s a short and busy term ahead and started with Athletics in Winton on 25 October with Hedgehope and Lochiel Schools.

We picked the best day weather wise.

Thank you to everyone who took transport, popped in during the day to watch and to those parents that helped on long jump or at Junior sports.

As a staff we are proud of our students, and we all commented on how nice it was to be away with them all for the day.

There is a tab on the school website with some photos from the day if you want to check out some of our students in action.

Well done to the following students (15) who will represent Wallacetown School at the Central Zone Athletics Sports on Thursday 10th of November – Connor, Grace, Oskar, Jack B, Zaria, Paigan, Levi, Ritchie, Anton, Max, Rocco, Nixie, Rachel, Annie, and Arthur.

An extra special good luck to Arthur, Bradan and Grace who all qualified for the 800m event which was run 2 November after school.

Grace, Jack, Anton and Zaria were our relay team at Athletics last week!

Well done for placing FIRST!!!!

Thursday 27 October was ‘National Shake Out Day’– this let us practise our earthquake drill and checked the systems we have in place do work well.

It was great to see everyone who was able to come to ‘bring your tea to school’ on Friday 28 October.

This was a great chance to catch-up, and existing families meet some of our new families and a really nice way to end the week!

School Pool - is open now!

Keys for this season are at a reduced fee of $50.00 as at some stage we will need to close so the building works can happen.

Keys are available for school families and the wider Wallacetown Community, these are available from Annie at the office.

Annie is in the office 8:30-12:30pm Monday to Thursday.

On November 1 we had a great day celebrating everything ‘horsey’ - from great dress ups to the students judging the teacher’s headwear, to getting the opportunity to chat via zoom with Lucy Olphert one of  New Zealand’s successful show jumpers!

Thank you very much for your generous donations we raised $118 dollars for Riding for Disabled (RDA) which is based in Otatara.

That’s a wrap for 2022 from Wallacetown School.

We hope everyone has a safe and Merry Christmas, and we will see everyone in the New Year.
