Celebrating Southland Schools

2022 has got off to a great start with lots of fun, learning in lots of different ways. Check out what the students in Piwakawaka, Tui and Kereru have been up to. And across all areas of the curriculum. Here is a small snapshot of what we have been learning about.
Apple Day: the whole school worked together in House Groups to make apple crumble, using apples harvested from the school heritage trees. After munching apples straight from the tree, it was time to cook what was left. We enjoyed the delicious dessert with ice-cream. Yum!
Dance in Action: Piwakawaka enjoying dancing to great music. There are some pretty amazing movers in this room.
It is a great day when the Duffy Books arrive. Check out the smiles as the boys get ready to read.
There really is nothing like reading a good book in the sun and getting completely engrossed in the story. Here, Kereru students are enjoying their books while relaxing under the trees.
Stewart Island Triathlon: Three of our students competed in the event in March, and gave it their all. We can’t wait to go back next year.
Tuakana-Teina: Students from Kereru and Piwakawaka spending time reading together. Such an amazing time sharing books and learning from each other.
Whale Pot: When they started reading Moby Dick in Tui, who knew there was a whale pot here in Nightcaps. Tui ventured out to explore our local area.
Tui enjoying their fitness routine with their great green costumes during St Patrick’s Day.
