Celebrating Southland Schools

CLASS ACTION: St Thomas Aquinas School

We have had a particularly busy term three with lots of school wide events and community projects taking place.

Here are a few snippets of just what we have been up to.

Sir Peter Blake Award recipient Ryan O'Callaghan

Ryan O'Callaghan (Year 8) is an extremely proactive young leader who shares his great ideas with immense enthusiasm.

He is a very capable communicator and motivator who has the capacity to bring groups together to achieve any goal set.

Ryan has many amazing attributes but one that stands out would be his ability to command attention and deliver messages that inspire and engage others around him.

He has been an active contributor at St Thomas Aquinas School and we look forward to seeing just what he can achieve in the future with these emerging leadership skills.

The line up outside the school office to purchase tickets

Principal For The Day.

This week our Student Council ran a mufti day to raise money for Winton Foodbank and also to fund their next Student Council initiative.

There was a huge demand for tickets to be in the draw to win the prize of being ‘Principal for the day’.

There were 344 tickets sold therefore the Student Council raised a whopping $344!

Our two lucky prize winners were Daniel Cummings and Jakob Anderson.

They are at this point besides themselves with excitement with the prospect of taking over Mrs Jarvis's role.

Redevelopment work

St Thomas Aquinas School Redevelopment 2020/2021

Our school is currently under redevelopment of our classroom spaces.

We are very excited to be getting new multipurpose learning spaces for our tamariki to learn in.

This has been a long awaited project that is due to be completed at the end of Term One in 2021.

Our children have been learning throughout this process and have had many opportunities to see the progress along the way.

Ski Trip

Ski Trip to Coronet Peak

A group of senior students had the opportunity to go to Coronet Peak for ski lessons followed by some awesome runs.

We look forward to the school events and rich learning experiences we have planned for Term Four.

The focus for us will be on our Mercy value of 'Excellence', this is about trying your best by doing your best.
