Celebrating Southland Schools

27 November 2022, 7:23 PM

CLASS ACTION: Riverton School

We held our Riverton/Thornbury athletics day and almost completed the day's events.

The following week our athletes represented RPS in the WS Athletics held at Takitimu.

Congratulations to Louis Eade, Ali Peterson, Savarna Todd, Rawinia O'Neill, Nixon Morrell, Nevaeh Hollands, Georgia Eade, and Sophia Ward-Delgado who will compete in the Southland Championships.

The whole school took part in the Big Shake Out.

This is our annual Tsunami Drill.

We followed the drill procedures (Drop, Cover & Hold) and (When Strong and Long, Get Gone).

It was a pleasure having the Emergency Service come and talk to us and answer some burning questions.

We had 3 teams participate in the WS Golf tournament at our own Riverton Golf Course.

This was followed by the Tour of Southland Cyclists leaving our school on a lovely sunny day.

On Friday the 28th of October we celebrated ‘World Teachers’ Day’.

On Monday the 7th of November, we invited all grandparents to come and enjoy some time in their grandchild’s class.

They came and saw what they are doing in the classes, had lunch or morning tea with them, and even helped out in the classes.

Our Open Day was on the 8th of November.

This will give parents the opportunity to see how their children learn, the programs we use, and how they are taught.

This was also an opportunity to catch up with our new board members.

We had an awesome day for our very well-run Pet Day, thanks to the teachers and our fantastic Friends of the School who went all out this year to make sure the children were well-fed and all the animals, and favorite things were judged.

The winners were rewarded for their efforts.

A very big thank you to all the sponsors who contributed to our day.

Thanks to the businesses for your generosity and manpower.

It was so good to see so many families back in and around the school.

Riverton Primary and Aparima College got behind the Black Ferns and our Amy Rule, in a super supportive afternoon.

Now we can call these outstanding women rugby players as World Cup winners.

We are so proud of them all.
