Polyfest 2023!
It was a special moment for our ākonga (students) and kaiako (teachers) when we performed on stage as a whole school Kapa Haka group.
We have come a long way over recent years.
A big thank you to Vic Sinclair who confidently led us as a school from start to finish!
Saturday afternoon our four Jump Jam teams took to the stage at James Hargest to compete in the local Jump Jam Competition.
All teams were coached enthusiastically by Miss Ashworth and made us proud as they gave it their best on stage.
Our senior group, "MBS Can't Hold Us" competed in the Year 5-8 Open Competition and came 2nd in Southland with an Excellence in Presentation and Excellence in Technique.
Furthermore, we have been informed that they have made it through to the South Island Competition and will compete in Christchurch later in Novermber.
It was a big night on Friday 11 August at the NZAS Science and Technology Fair Prizegiving!
Myross Bush School secured:
- 2 Bronze
- 4 Silver
- 4 Gold
- 3 Distinction in Science and Technology
- 1 prize for Oil and Marine Gas
- 1 Highly Commended in Food Science
- 1 Runner up in Food Science

Garden Club
When we’ve had some nice weather over the winter, Garden Club has been busy preparing for the new season ahead.
We’ve cleared the veggie gardens and tunnel house, planted some colour to brighten things up and cleared the feature garden ready for some new summer colour.
We also have a request for our community - if you have any spare manure we’d love some to feed our soil. If you’re able to help please text Anna on 027 502 3804.
Sports Results
MBS Diamonds played a tough final, being beaten in the last few minutes.
The team have done very well this season, winning almost all games.
Big thanks to Fleur for all her coaching and help.
Congratulations to our Year 5-6 Blacksticks hockey team who completed their season unbeaten!
Their focus was on teamwork and good sportsmanship.
They played really well as a team and all improved dramatically throughout the season under their coaches Wiki Burdon and Mel Young.
MBS Red Sticks (Y1&2) and MBS Yellow Sticks (Y3&4) enjoyed a fun-filled 2023 season.
Both sides won the majority of their matches and learned lots about the challenging sport of hockey.
All team members had the honour of ‘player of the day’ at least once.
Coaches Pete Jefcoate (Y1-2s) and Andie Gentle (Y3-4) were impressed with the players' dedication, teamwork and progress.
Well done everyone!
