Akotoa (our Year 5 + 6's) have been working hard recently on their Science and Technology projects.
As always there is a range of projects and this year they include:
Last Friday the Year 5's took our School Assembly and shared with us how they have been working through the investigation cycle.
They have been learning about the language and processes that scientists use.
We are thrilled to announce that the Rawe sandpit upgrade is now complete with its new permanent roof and rainwater collection system.
Ākonga were excited to be given access to the sandpit again and are enjoying the opportunity to engage in learning through play no matter the weather!
Furthermore, the roof design not only allows us to collect rainwater to use (in line with Enviro Schools principles) but also enables maximum viewing of our school mural while covering the sandpit.
We wish to acknowledge the following people who were instrumental in this project:
Recently, Rawe had to say "goodbye" to Mrs Erskine who has begun her maternity leave.
They had a fun time though giving her a surprise baby shower.
On Friday 26 May all ākonga participated the Southern Zone Cross Country held again at Woodlands Agri Centre.
The weather provided some extra challenges but all races were run before the rain really poured down.
Thank you to our Friends of School for running the BBQ and Cafe raising over $700 for the school.
