Celebrating Southland Schools
04 April 2024, 9:30 PM
The year started with all children walking down to Murihiku Marae for a pōwhiri
We also had Rob Bird and Kate from Environment Southland come into Room 12 to share about the Whare Rā (Kingswell) stream.
They learnt a lot about the fish and plant life that exists in the stream.
To celebrate Heritage Month Room 19 went down to South Alive to make Hokey Pokey Ice Cream.
A South Invercargill man invented the iconic ice cream flavour!
We've also had our annual visit for Duffy Book's in Homes - Duffy Theatre.
The three actors entertained our children sharing their message of the love of reading.
The acting was superb, and there were many laughs.
Our term's inquiry has been Visual Arts, and we have been lucky enough to have an expert carver come in and share his skill with our kids.
Bodge worked with all students to create their own carving.
