This term has been a busy term for students at Wharerā/Fernworth Primary.

One morning the school all jumped on buses to go and check out parks, playgrounds and school play equipment throughout Invercargill.

We are planning to add to our outdoor playground, and the children need to research what equipment they preferred and would work at our school.

There was no complaining from students about completing this.

A weekly happening at Wharerā is teaching our students Mau Rākau skills.

This happens for 30 mins each week for every class, and it is focussed on footwork and improving fitness.

Last year saw the annual Surf to City change into a walk/run you could do in your own time, we used this idea to create our own Surf to City for our students.

The Estuary to Square saw Seniors walk 6km around the Estuary to Russell Square, and the Juniors 3km.

Everyone arrived at the park for a well deserved lunch and a play.
