Agri Kids Competition
A HUGE Congratulations to Aubree, Kobee and Hannah on being awarded FIRST PLACE and
winning this competition - Well done!
On Saturday the 18th March, we had four teams of children compete in the Agrikids competition at The Southland A and P Show.
We were very proud of all our children, especially their teamwork, perseverance and problem solving skills when faced with a range of activities and challenges.
Well done to Ruby, Gracie and Holly, Kyla Jane, Nate and Masyn, Tane, Cole and Billy, and Aubree, Kobee and Hannah.
Fabulous work everyone!
OUTDOOR EDUCATION WEEK
Our Outdoor Education and Safety week went well.
The children spent the first day cooking.
They made scones, butter, tayberry jam and a courgette relish - they then got to eat their creations.
There were smiles all round with how yummy everything tasted.
Each class had a session with a St Johns facilitator, learning about how to respond in an emergency situation.
On Wednesday 15th Feb we had our BIG DAY OUT off we all headed to Riverton Beach for a great day of activities and fun.
On Thursday 16th Feb we attended the Rural Women’s Safety Day at the Drummond Rugby Grounds for a day of Safety related talks and activities.
Followed by a swim in our Community pool.
Then our OVERNIGHT CAMP At School.
Families brought their own camping gear for the night (tents/Caravans) and set up in the back field.
The younger children had a parent to stay overnight with them, while the older children could stay in their tents by themselves.
We had a shared Potluck Dinner where everyone brought their favorite meal or salad to enjoy and share with others.
Then we had a meet and greet with Staff and Board Members and introduced our new School App - HERO
SCHOOL/KINDY DUATHLON - Friday 17 February
The school joined with The Drummond Kindy and held our Duathlon, it was great to see all the children giving it a go.
Wow - what a fabulous week we all had for our Outdoor week.
Thank you to you all for making the week such an amazing success.
We had so much fun.
A special mention of thanks to the Drummond Rural Women's group for organising our wonderful Safety day - this was an informative and interesting day.
Congratulations to Yellow House for winning our House Duathlon - though initially tied in first equal with Green House, the parent race with their slip ‘n’ slides ultimately gained Yellow House the win!
SCHOOL HATS
Our School Parent Teacher Network group has generously purchased school hats with funds raised from last year.
THANK YOU so much - we are so grateful for these - the hats are amazing!
Each hat has D.P.S on the front, and a different number on the back.
Hats will be kept at school, and children will wear these during break times and sports.
At the conclusion of our Safety Day, Brigette from the Cancer Society gave us a UV Index.
We are able to check on the peak UV for each day, and set the level accordingly, and this shows us when we need to be wearing our hats.
Some days we are surprised at how high readings are in Southland… even grey and gloomy days can have high UV ratings.
TOUCH RUGBY
Children join in Touch Rugby playing in the Central competition, a successful afternoon, with all Drummond teams winning their games.
Tino pai mahi - Great work!
