Spring is a very busy time for Rural Southland School Communities, but it has not held back Dipton School having a very busy schedule.

Of recent times we have had a focus on the Commonwealth Games, culminating in a games day for the students.

House vs house brought out fierce competition, finishing with a BBQ celebration for all involved.

Our whole school had been busy practicing for the Murihiku Polyfest.

We were very excited as we had not been able to perform for 3 years due to COVID restrictions.

The school performed with distinction on the stage at Stadium Southland.

Last month the Board of Trustees were pleased to announce the appointment of a permanent principal to Dipton School.

Gordan Caddie will start at the beginning of next month.

Gordan comes with a wealth of experience.

He comes from Waltham School in Christchurch where he has been the principal for 17 years.

He is excited to be back in a rural community with a teaching component to his job.

He will be moving south with his wife Sue and living in the school house.

This is me signing off, thank you for the community support over the last two terms in the Dipton Community.

I have loved every day of my time in this wonderful community.
