The Bluff Flower Show drew about 150 people to the Senior Citizens Centre last weekend (February 13-14) to enjoy a multitude of colourful displays by local gardeners.
Organising team member Dianna Young said early flowering, plus bad weather in the days leading up to the show, had an impact on local gardens, but people were able to find enough blooms to show.
“We were unfortunate that we were hit by bad weather on the Wednesday and Thursday. But the show is not meant to be a professional show. It is more of a social event . . . People did bring along their exhibits, and all kudos to them for that because we did all suffer for that,” she said.

Co-organiser Barbara Metzger was happy with how things went in the kitchen.
“We did 110 morning and afternoon teas last year. There were 142 this year, maybe a bit more. I think it was very successful for our little town,” she said.
Also adding the buzz around town at the weekend were the Bluff St John Book Sale at the Bluff Town Hall in Gore Street and the Burt Munro Challenge.
