The body of a man, believed to be a tramper that went missing in Milford Sound on Monday, has been found.
The man was located deceased and Search and Rescue specialists are now working to recover the body and return him to his family.
The experienced outdoorsman was reported overdue shortly after midnight on Monday.
It was believed the man's intention had been to climb Devil's Armchair near the northern end of the Milford Track.
A large team had taken part in the search including Police Search and Rescue and LandSAR personnel, specialist Alpine Cliff Rescue (ACR) teams and other specialist teams.
The search areas had been difficult and searchers have encountered challenging terrain, including the steep rock faces, dense bush and moss-covered boulders that are characteristic of the Fiordland region.
