Police have confirmed the body found in Invercargill this afternoon is believed to be Raymond Horn.
Horn, 68, has been missing since Monday, February 15, after leaving Richmond rest-home Walmsley House.
Officers were called to a wooded area at Beatrice St, near Bill Richardson Drive, Avenal, Invercargill, at 1.40pm.
It is about 3km away from the rest-home, across Queens Park and towards the Waihopia River.
The body of an elderly man had been found by a member of the public.
Detective Alun Griffiths said: "While formal identification is yet to take place, Police believe the deceased to be missing Invercargill man Raymond Horn.
"Raymond’s family have been advised.
"Police will not be in a position to comment further on the circumstances of the death until after a post-mortem has taken place."
St John Ambulance also attended, but were not required.
There have been multiple searches for Horn over the past five weeks, with police, dog handlers, LandSAR and the public searching residential areas, green spaces, tracks and waterways.
