One person is dead and another still unaccounted for after a boat went missing on Lake Hauroko on Friday.

Police reported today that a body had been located near Teal Bay at the southern end of Lake Hauroko.

Invercargill Police had been notified late on Friday (31st May) that a boat and its occupants were missing on the lake.

A search of the lake was undertaken using a local boat operator yesterday. About midday police located a body.

Police, using a helicopter and jet boat, are continuing to search Lake Hauroko today for boat and the one remaining missing occupant.
