More than 1000 books were sold at the Balfour Lions' second-hand book sale at the weekend.
Bibliophiles of all sorts were in for a treat as the Balfour Lions Club held their regular book sale fundraiser at the Balfour Hall.
Balfour Lions Club vice president Olivia Ross said the sale went well with great attendance and about 1000 books sold.
Around $1000 was raised for the group, which would be put back into the community, she said.
The remaining books were collected by the Gore Pakeke Lions to either be sold in future sales or turned into pulp for recycling.
Miss Ross said the club wanted to thank the community for its support.
