Organisers of last weekend's Balfour Big 3 hunting competition say they're hoping to have raised around $10,000 to support Balfour's rugby club.
Organiser Michelle Johnston it was their "best year yet" in terms of fundraising, with raised funds earmarked to upgrade the Balfour Rugby Club's scoreboard to an electronic one.
Eighteen teams and 13 individuals entered this year's competition. Individual hunter numbers doubled from last year's tournament, Ms Johnston said.
Team "Maybe This Time" won the top prize of four $500 clothing vouchers from Hunting and Fishing New Zealand in Invercargill.
Ms Johnston said event organisers were grateful for their sponsors and to the hunters who took the time to enter.
"Obviously without any of them it wouldn't have been the competition that it is."
