Southland-based company Awarua Synergy was a winner at the PROtrade United Industry Awards, held in Brisbane, Australia, at the weekend.

Competing against field of leading trade companies from across Australia and New Zealand, Awarua Synergy was nominated for three awards and taking home the top honour for its outstanding contribution to community wellbeing.

“We’re incredibly proud to be recognised on an international stage among so many respected trade businesses,” she said.

“This award reflects the heart of our team and the real difference we’re making in our community.”

The Community Impact Award recognised Awarua Synergy’s work in insulating and heating thousands of homes across Southland, educating people on power savings and efficient home heating, and supporting youth development through its involvement in Rangatahi Zone, an annual two-day event that brings together over 1,000 youth for fun, creativity, and connection in Bluff.

The awards ceremony, attended by over 300 guests, featured a special guest appearance by former rugby league star and coach Mel Meninga, whose inspiring speech celebrated the importance of recognising grassroots impact.

Awarua Synergy’s work spans homes, farms, and businesses, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, education, and community-led initiatives.

“Our team is passionate about making a difference,” Beaton said.

“Whether it’s through our Healthy Homes workshops or supporting youth to thrive, we’re proud to be part of something that truly matters.”
