Hip-hop soul band Hopetoun Brown are heading south to Gore on election night, with the intention of blowing up a storm on their antique wind instruments.
The three-piece brass and blues group features former Supergroove brass section Tim Stewart (also vocals) and Nick Atkinson with Auckland trumpet and piano teacher Finn Scholes.
The trio are parading their live concert album, "Hopetoun Brown Live at WOMAD", through 22 venues around New Zealand and will be parping and stomping at Gore on October 17.

They will bring trombones, saxophones, tubas, tambourines, a Rhodes electric piano and a full-size concert vibraphone to the stage.
Gore is their only Southland venue, but close-to-Southland concerts will also be held in Cromwell, Queenstown, Roxburgh and Alexandra between October 15 and 19.
The new album was released on September 25. Hopetoun Brown have also released three studio albums.
The concert is being supported by Arts on Tour NZ, Creative New Zealand, Central Lakes Trust, Community Trust of Southland, Interislander, Otago Community Trust, Rata Foundation and the Southern Trust.
