HospiceSouthland has at its very centre all its volunteers. Thank you so much for your contribution – you are the heartbeat of our organization.

Our seven shops from Te Anau, to Queenstown, to Winton, to Windsor, Yarrow St and South City are all well supported by you whether in donations or shoppers.

We feel it is a great contribution to the sustainability of New Zealand and how we too can help protect the environment through recycling and “turning secondhand goods into first class care”. 

You will be aware that the End of Life referendum result reflected the desire of our nation for that legislation to come into being.

We are not expecting this to have any real effect on our hospice service, but we will work through any possible ramifications and keep you involved.

Our aim will continue to enable our palliative care patients and their families to share their time together, to make plans and find comfort from each other.

With our motto of “living every moment” our patients their families and whanau can turn their attention to making the best of what time remains rather than being in fear of death. 

Hospice can only achieve what it does through its great community effort.

To all of you who have so very generously donated financially and in kind we thank you.

Every week we are so grateful to receive donations, bequests and gifts of all sorts, from financial assistance to flowers, food, even toilet paper and toothpaste.

It is so very generous of you to think of us. 

If you haven’t been to HospiceSouthland do come and see us.

The peace and compassion you feel on entering our building is very real. Come and talk with us or have a stroll around our beautiful gardens. 

One of the things we hear from our families and patients is that the comfort and relief they get to find at Hospice, whether it’s here in our Inpatient Unit or in their homes or care residences.

Across the street and round the region we are here for you.

At hospice there is someone who has the time to sit down and answer your questions with honesty and understanding.

Whether its our doctors, nurses, counsellors, social workers spiritual guide - they are around when needed.
