85% of NZ's COVID-19 cases now recovered

Eighty-five percent of all confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 reported in New Zealand are now considered to have recovered.

Two new cases were reported today – both linked to the St Margaret’s Hospital and Rest Home cluster in Auckland. Both cases are household contacts of an employee at the rest home.

The total of cases is 1487 – 1136 of these are confirmed cases. 1266 cases are reported as recovered, 20 people have died and there are currently eight people in hospital – none in intensive care.

There has been no change to the Southern District Health Board region statistics with just nine cases from the total number of 216 reported – 205 now recovered and two deceased.

It has now been 15 days since a new case was reported in the southern region.

The World Health Organisation reports no new country or territory outbreaks in the previous 24 hours, but the total number of cases worldwide grew by 91,977 in 24 hours to 3,267,184. There have been 229,971 deaths (5799 in the previous 24 hours).
