13 days with no new cases in the south

There have now been no new cases of COVID-19 reported in the Southern District Health Board region for 13 consecutive days.


Meanwhile, the number of people recovering from the infection is also growing, leaving just 11 active cases as of today. Two people have died and 203 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the SDHB area. 


Nationally there have been 1132 confirmed and 347 probable cases, from which 19 people have died and 1252 have recovered.


There were three new cases reported today. One case is linked to overseas travel, one is linked to a known case and still being investigated, and one is still under investigation.


Six people are in hospital, none of them in intensive care and none of them are in the Southern DHB area.


The World Health Organisation’s latest situation report lists a total of 3,090,445 confirmed cases, 71,839 of those in the previous 24 hours. The death toll is at 217,769 (9797 in the previous 24 hours).
