Southland has over 28 Catchment Groups, forming a network covering over 85% of the Southland region, and this network is expanding rapidly.

August 2021: The Upper Mataura crew decided the time was right to break away from being a part of the Between the Domes Catchment Group and form their own group.

The newly defined area covers the wider surroundings of Athol and Garston and hopes to increase engagement from land owners in the area because the catchment is now more relevant.
